YOUTH IN BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
We believe the small business sector is the backbone of any community and
to contribute to the future development of that sector here at home, Rivers
and District Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to offer a $1,000 annual
scholarship to a local youth to support their success in business-related post
secondary studies.
TIMELINE
• Applications must be received no later than July 1 of the current year;
decisions and awards will be made by August 31 of the same year.
• Award recipients have 24 months following the receiving of a positive
decision to apply their scholarship to their approved post-secondary study.
• Award recipients MAY apply to change their program of study from the one originally awarded but that
application will be subject to committee review and approval.
• Any scholarships that are not awarded or forfeited will be re-issued to other applicants OR saved for future
dispersal at the committee discretion.
CRITERIA
• Applicants must be under the age of 21 at the time of application. Scholarships must be utilized within 24
months of award.
• Applicants MUST have applied and been accepted into a business-related post secondary training or
education program at the time of application for this award. Acceptable courses of study may include but are
not limited to: Business Administration, Accounting, Trades, Agribusiness, Sales, Marketing….
• Applicants MUST have successfully completed their first term of programming at their post secondary and
be enrolled in the next term for payment to be made.
• Applicants MUST have their primary residence in or attend school in Riverdale Municipality at the time of
application. Exceptions may be made for rural applicants actively involved in the community – if in question
– apply!
• Applicants must not have previously received a scholarship from Rivers and District Chamber of Commerce.
Scholarship awards will be made directly to the accepted post secondary program/institution
to cover tuition and other program costs AFTER successful completion of at least one term.
Transcripts or records from the institution must be received in order for payment to be made.
Applicants will receive no direct cash or equivalents.
SUBMISSIONS
• Applicants must submit the signed and completed application by the deadline.
• Applications must include two letters of reference from a local business, educator or community organization.
• Applicants must submit a personal essay outlining their contributions/connection to our community, their
planned course of study and how it relates to business or economic development, as well as their plans after
their education is complete. There is no length criteria for this essay.

• Scholarship finalists MAY be asked to an in-person or virtual interview with committee members before a
final decision is made.
